What happens when you start talking like a baby…

After being with our 21 month old grandson Nolan for two weeks, my husband and I are now finding ourselves using his words instead of our own around the house. He became very verbal during the visit and his words are so cute, we just can’t help ourselves. At the shop I find myself using two words a lot, nope whoa (woe). Nolan’s favorite thing to search for on all walks no matter where he is…Chicago, Como Zoo, Coon Rapids and even at the cabin on dirt roads is a sewer…so when we find one he always looks to see if there is water in it and if not he says nope. Most everything that happens on a daily basis is a big deal or a near fall or injury and so his second most favorite word is whoa. So, if you listen close you’ll here me saying nope & whoa a lot at the shop now. At home we keep the baby talk just to ourselves and have fun running through his pronunciation of grandpa, Dexter our lab, cheese, agua (water), boat, sit, no no no, please, thank you, up, down, more (this became a big one during the visit), cook, eggs, popsicle (his first at the cabin), sewer, bridge, yeah while clapping his hands, zoom…ok you get the picture…it’s amazing how well we can communicate to each other with just single baby words, hmmm… Nolan’s favorite phrase though which is repeated with a pointed finger non-stop through out all his awake hours is ehhh ehhhhh.., which has lots of meanings like look at that, there it is, what’s that. And that is his dad’s favorite word to repeat as we found out at the cabin during  Nolan’s sleeping hours. -Rox
