Let me rip on me…

So, if you follow my blog you know that on occasion I pick on my husband or should I say rip on him…well, after last Friday, I decided that I definitely deserve a blog ripping on me…and my husband excitedly suggested the same idea after I told him about my day…

Friday’s are my one official day away from the shop and this past Friday I had invited my mother and mother-in-law out for lunch. My mother-in-law is now in assisted living up in a new home in Blaine called Edgewood. We were going to meet my mother at Panera. So off I go to pick up Wanda leaving in plenty of time and I head out on the road my usual way, turn onto Hwy 10 and about a minute later I say to myself, this isn’t the right way, shux…so I continue on and get off on Hwy 65 and head north backtracking. I should of gone down 242/mainstreet but I learned as the day progressed the road is no longer called this anymore, only old timers refer to it as that, the actual name of the road is County Road 14. Now, I’ve only been to Edgewood once and it was just the week before but I knew where I was going…so I thought. Anyway as I’m approaching 242, I see Cloud Dr. as an exit and I know the home is off of Cloud Dr. so I think, good, a short cut and I can make up my time, NOPE! Cloud Dr. just goes into a neighborhood with lots of winding streets and ENDs, yes just ENDs! Ok, so I get out my trusty iPhone and put in Edgewood and a center in Woodbury is my only option…ahh that is not going to work. I then decided to call my husband and ask him to lead me through these neighborhood streets as he comes this way to see his a parents 4 times a week and surely he must know how. (Here is the real kicker, my husband likes to poke fun at me claiming that I don’t know my directions and then of course he will generalize and claim this is a woman thing which infuriates me.) So I try really, really hard to know my way around and get directions correct and calling him was not necessarily what I wanted to do, but I had two ladies waiting on me and so I did. He gave me some guidance along with a couple of comments and I proceeded on finding the main road he suggested and then of course I went left and not right…turned around and then crossed right over that 242/mainstreet road and continued going the wrong direction…as I saw the signs for Ham Lake I once again turned around and then called my husband who told me to turn on County Rd 14 as I loudly exclaimed you never told me thatfinally 40 minutes after leaving the house I picked up Wanda…but NO that is not the end of this tale. My mother was teaching at the shop on Friday morning and we were meeting after class at Panera which is only two miles from the shop and so I assumed that was the Panera she wanted to meet at not the one in Riverdale closer to where we were. I jumped back on to Hwy 65 headed to Hwy 10 with Wanda in tow and of course missed the exit which was par for the course and  we continued across the river on 610 and then made a u-turn in Brooklyn Park and eventually made it to the Panera on the south side of Coon Rapids where we discovered my mother was NOT! Yes, I had tried calling her over and over on this trip just to clarify where we were meeting and to say we were running a bit late but did she have her cell phone with her, NOPE! So we hopped back in my car and drove to the north end of Coon Rapids where we did indeed still find my mother waiting patiently for us…a mere 90 minutes after I left home! I desperately wished for a glass of wine with my lunch but that was not to be! – Rox
