Swing Knitting -
Swing Knitting™ is a technique using simple rules and formulas that when applied create organic shapes and forms which morph throughout the fabric you create as you knit. Lively dynamic harmonious patterns move across the fabric giving a sense of movement that is created by no other method. By using short rows in this new way and following a simple formula, Barb Ann will help you create these unique fingerless gloves. You will learn German Short rows in the introductory class and work off of two different colors and skeins of yarn. Six hours of class, pattern included. $30

Custom Fit Sweater Designed by you, for you…
Amy Herzog has spent the past several years helping thousands of women all over the world understand how to create sweaters they love to wear. And now she has taken that knowledge and developed a computer program that will help all of us knit a simple but classic pullover sweater, cardigan or vest that we will not only love to knit but more importantly wear! ***since starting the program less than a year ago, 14 additional sweaters with more complicated pattern options have been added.
Our very own “Sweater a Week” Sherry has studied Amy’s program, attended classes and is now the coordinator of All About Yarn’s subset for the Custom Fit Sweater Program. Since starting this program here in February 2014, we have had more than 120 knitters that have taken the sweater knitting plunge and are knitting Custom Fit Sweaters and All About Yarn is leading the country with the number of Custom Fit Sweater knitters. Many are also knitting 2nd, 3rd, & 4th sweaters already and our program has generated nearly 200 patterns. (some samples are on display at the shop)
How this program is designed to work: you pick a yarn that you want to knit a sweater with, make a swatch and measure it, wash your swatch and measure it again, we take body measurements in all the required places, you design the sweater you want to make by picking the style, neckline, sleeve length and style, body fit and edging…all of this is then input into your own custom fit account hosted by All About Yarn, where upon your perfect pattern is printed and a pdf is saved in your account for life. Once your measurements are entered they are saved making future sweater patterns a breeze. (For your next and all future sweaters all you have to do is bring us your swatch with your personal pattern options and we will generate your pattern for $10…a fee set by Custom Fit.)
Since starting our program here at the shop Sherry has met with and studied under Amy Herzog twice more. We have the most experienced Custom Fit Sweater coordinator right here at All About Yarn!!!
Custom Fit measurement class …
a one-on-one with Sherry
To make a Custom Fit sweater and many more after that…you need to schedule yourself for a one hour session with Sherry. Sherry will give you a quick overview of how the program works, take your measurements, help you design your first sweater, enter all your information and print out your personalized pattern. Your only homework is to come into the shop ahead of time to pick out your sweater yarn and get your swatch homework with Rox or Paula. You will bring your completed swatch along to class. Once you are entered in the system all future patterns require only a swatch and design selected by you. What could be easier! Cost is $30, which includes the pattern. All future patterns are $10… this cost is set by the Custom Fit.***If you and a friend are interested in booking a two hour private block, call or email the shop and we will schedule a date that works best for you.***
- new class dates soon…or you may call the shop and arrange your own time.
Been wondering how to knit using your left hand or what those other knitters are actually doing then this is the class for you. We will show you how to carry the yarn in your left hand and pick at your stitches which requires less movement than wrapping with your right hand. This is a great way to prepare for Fair Isle knitting too! We will teach you how to work this method while making our very popular Rasta Cowl, using a super bulky yarn and bigger needles. Two hours of class – $15.

Building in Color
Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter has created a 2nd book with a carefully designed sequence of patterns aimed at introducing you to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques used in color knitting. Each of the 10 patterns focuses on new skills and ways of using multiple colors of yarn. Every panel in Building in Color will add to your knitting education as you learn to expertly knit with multiple colors while creating individual panels that will be assembled into a colorful blanket. Hikoo’s Simplicity is an exquisite merino/acrylic/nylon superwash yarn that we have been using for multiple projects at All About Yarn for two years now and is the yarn that will be used for your blanket. This class will meet once a month, typically on the last Sunday of the month, except for holidays, from (2-4) for a year…beginning with panel one the first month and continuing on through panel 10, one month at a time. Month 11 will cover seaming and month 12 is picking up stitches for the border. Just think in one year’s time you will have learned so much, made new friends and have a beautiful keepsake blanket as well. This time frame also allows you to knit on your other projects too. This class started…look for new dates in the future!
