Custom Fit Sweater Designed by you, for you…
Amy Herzog has spent the past several years helping thousands of women all over the world understand how to create sweaters they love to wear. And now she has taken that knowledge and developed a computer program that will help all of us knit a simple but classic pullover sweater, cardigan or vest that we will not only love to knit but more importantly wear!
Our very own “Sweater a Week” Sherry has studied Amy’s program, attended classes and is now the coordinator of All About Yarn’s subset for the Custom Fit Sweater Program. Since starting this program here in February we have 100 knitters that have now taken the plunge and are knitting Custom Fit Sweaters. Many of these are knitting 2nd, 3rd, & 4th sweaters already. . (samples are on display at the shop)
How this program is designed to work: you pick a yarn that you want to knit a sweater with, make a swatch and measure it, wash your swatch and measure it again, we take body measurements in all the required places, you design the sweater you want to make by picking the style, neckline, sleeve length and style, body fit and edging…all of this is then input into your own custom fit account hosted by All About Yarn, where upon your perfect pattern is printed and a pdf is saved in your account for life. Once your measurements are entered they are saved making future sweater patterns a breeze. (For your next and all future sweaters all you have to do is bring us your swatch with your personal pattern options and we will generate your pattern for $10…a fee set by Custom Fit.)
We are offering this program to you as a three week, seven hour class for $45 which includes the pattern. Class size is limited to five. In the first class, Sherry will give you an overview of “Knit to Flatter,” you will pick your yarn if you have not already done that, begin swatching and have your measurements taken in private…an extra hour is needed for this class. The second week, you will turn in your swatches, Sherry will discuss body types and styles and go over sweater options from Custom Fit. The final class, week three, Sherry will have already entered your swatches and measurements, she will then add your pattern options and generate your very own personalized pattern. The final hour of class Sherry and you will read though your pattern for questions.
-$45 (as with all classes, sweater yarn for this class must be purchased at All About Yarn)
- Tues., Sept., 30 (5-8), Oct. 7 & 21 (6-8)

Building in Color***New
Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter has created a 2nd book with a carefully designed sequence of patterns aimed at introducing you to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques used in color knitting. Each of the 10 patterns focuses on new skills and ways of using multiple colors of yarn. Every panel in Building in Color will add to your knitting education as you learn to expertly knit with multiple colors while creating individual panels that will be assembled into a colorful blanket. Hikoo’s Simplicity is an exquisite merino/acrylic/nylon superwash yarn that we have been using for multiple projects at All About Yarn for two years now and is the yarn that will be used for your blanket. This class will meet once a month, typically on the last Sunday of the month, except for holidays, from (2-4) for a year…beginning with panel one the first month and continuing on through panel 10, one month at a time. Month 11 will cover seaming and month 12 is picking up stitches for the border.
