Pick Your Own Project (by the month)
Our most popular class -
Pick a project is designed so that you can pick one or more than one project to get guidance on at your own level of experience.  This is great for the knitter who wants to try a new challenge or if you just learned how to knit and want to continue on…  We will have one or two teachers at every session that will be able to give you one-on-one help when you need it.  This class is a wonderful way to meet new friends and knitters and gather ideas for new projects. Generally there are 8 hours of class in a month - $40.

Fiddlehead Mittens-

If you have mitten experience and are a good knitter who is ready for a challenge then this is the class for you.  You will learn an i-cord cast on, how to Fair Isle and add a liner too! Seven hours of class, pattern included. - $40  Look for an upcoming class or take a Pick A Project class.


Mittens With a Lining -***NEW***

If you are interested in making a mitten with a lining, and you know how to knit and have some double pint experience, then you can take this class.  You will also be taught an i-cord cast on.  These mittens are very warm and the lining makes them soft and comfy! Six hours of class, pattern included - $35.

Sampler Scarf-***NEW***

If you know how to knit and purl, but consider yourself a beginner, this scarf might be just perfect for you.  You will have eight different sample patterns to choose from including a cable.  Each section is only four inches long which will keep you from getting bored as well as excited about the next section to come. 

This is a great scarf to work on in a Pick a Project class!



Spectra Scarf  ***  One Night Class***

Spectra is a pattern created by Stephen West and is a simple lightweight scarf knit with two fingering weight yarns.  You will learn how to use short rows to make the coiled edge and basic intarsia for a rainbow of color.  Must have cast on 40 sts. and completed 6 rows of garter stitch before class, instructions at the shop.  One, two hour class,  pattern included.  $15

Super Bulky Easy Mittens

An easy first pair of mittens with a gussest.  These mittens knit up quickly on size 11 or 13 double points and make great gifts!  You can make several before Christmas! Four hours of class - $25.

Beginning Knitting One
Learn the basics of knitting: cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, cast off, increasing, decreasing, slipping stitches, yarn over, knitting in the round & how to felt your project.  Your first project will be a big warm scarf and your second project will be a felted tote or purse. Eight hours of class - $40.

Beginning Knitting Two
If you finished Beginning Knitting One and are ready to continue on, or if you knit in the past and need a refresher course then this is the perfect class for you.  Several projects will be available to choose from depending on your level.  Generally an easy mitten for double point experience is the first project and beginner socks is the second.  Eight hours of class - $40.

Liberty Scarf - **One Day Class**

Learn how to make this short row scarf using the wrap and turn method in one night.  Fun scarf to knit using Liberty Merino  self-striping yarn wool.  One two hour class - $15 Booklet included.

Spinach Scarf  ***  One Day Class***

One of our most popular scarves this season the Spinach scarf uses short rows to make this unique look.  Can be made with or without a button hole and in any length or weight of yarn.  A great scarf for the upcoming spring season with so many cotton combo yarns to choose from.  One, two hour class,  pattern included.  $15

Beginner Bulky Socks
Not quite ready to do socks with small needles then this is the option for you.  We will use the Knitting Pure & Simple worsted weight pattern with size 6 needles and Tapestry sock patterning washable yarn. These are very cozy & soft as well as fun to wear and knit up quickly!  Great next step after the Easy Mitten class for the beginning knitter. Pattern included. Four hours of class - $25.

Easy Mittens

Ready to try mittens using four-needles, then this is the class for you.  No purling required!  Knit with Lamb’s Pride bulky and a fine mohair they have a very elegant look.   This class is the next step after Beginning Knitting.   Pattern included!  Four hours of class - $25.

Beginning Crochet -

Learn 12 different crochet stitches while working on six inch blocks that can be used to create an afghan in whatever size you desire.  So many colors of Encore yarn to choose from to make your own color combination.  Pattern book included.  Eight hours of class - $40.

Crochet Pick a Project

If you know the basics but need help reading patterns or are ready to take on something different then this is the class for you.  It can be as easy as a dish cloth, hat, scarf, purse, felted bag...or try your hand at an elaborate afghan, garment or sox.  Lots of samples at the shop to pick from as well! Great way to make new friends as well!  Eight hours of class - $40.

2-at-a-Time Socks (knit from the cuff down)

In this class you will learn how to make two socks from the cuff down at the same time using the magic loop method.  Following instructions in Melissa Morgan-Oakes book you will first make a practice pair of small socks using two different colors of worsted weight yarn and a size 5 needle.  Once you understand the method you will then be able to start a pair of fingering weight socks while still in class.  Sock experience is a must and class size is limited.  Eight hours of class time - $40

 (Must purchase or have book, yarn and a size 1 & 5 / 40 inch Skacel needle.)

The following are classes that have been offered in the past and are occasionally offered, however you can take a Pick a Project class and make any of the projects listed below and get general blocking and seaming info as well.

Blocking - 1 hour class
Learn the many different ways of blocking.  Instructions included. Demonstrations on how to use a blocking kit as well. Very popular class!  Space is limited!  - $12  Kits will be available for purchase.

Sat., Feb. 25 (1pm)

 

Clogs or Muk Luks - Felted

A very popular & intense class!  These felted clogs or Muk Luks have the look and feel of a comfortable slipper.  You will learn several new stitches, a three-needle bind off and how to attach a second sole. You will gain excellent pattern reading experience as well.  Must know how to knit, purl and recognize your stitches.  Everyone's favorite gift to receive!!!  Six hours of class $35.  Pattern included.


Felted - “Minnesota” Mittens
Using Theresa Gaffey’s felted mitten pattern you will make these wonderful old-fashioned style thick and warm mittens using a bulky weight yarn.  Good class to get four-needle experience and learn how to make a thumb gusset.   A variety of samples at the shop. Must know how to knit and purl.  Six hours of class - $35.  Pattern included.

Chunky Cable Hat 

Make this great looking hat and learn the twisted stitch and cable stitch.  Made with chunky weight alpaca this hat takes only one skein and is light and airy to wear.  Must knit eight rows of ribbing before class.  One, two hour class,  pattern included.  $15

Cable Scarf (Reversible) 

Using a bulky weight yarn you will learn a very unique way of cabling that will make both sides of your scarf the same.  You will be amazed with yourself and others will be amazed with you.  One, two-hour class - $15.  Pattern included.

Seaming - One Night Class

Learn the basics of seaming.  Students will knit four, 4 inch swatches with a size 7 needles and worsted weight yarn before class.  Two stockinette and two garter swatches.  Two hours of class - $15

Fair Isle (Introduction)  If  you are ready to try Fair Isle knitting, this colorful cowl is a great first project.  You will learn how to knit with two yarns held in both hands while following a Chevron Fair Isle pattern.  this cowl uses 3 different colors of Noro Silk Garden.  Must cast on and have 8 rows of ribbing complete before class.  This is a one, two hour class.  Pattern included. $15

Fingerless Mittens

In this class students will get help learning how to make the very popular and stylish fingerless mittens.  Made on double points or the new 9 inch circular needles, using a strand of sock yarn and a strand of kid mohair at the same time, these mitts are very soft and warm.  Double points will still be used for the thumb.  You will also have a choice of making them with a roll or rib pattern and will learn a thumb gusset.  Four hours of class - $25.  Pattern included.

Flip Flops - Felted

Similar instructions and techniques as the felted clogs.  However, in addition the flip flops use a 3-needle i-cord bind off.  Very fun and quick pattern to learn and wear!  Pattern included.  Four hours of class - $25.

This is the perfect class and sweater to make if you are ready to make your first garment.   Using the Knitting Pure & Simple pattern, size 17 needles and super bulky weight wool this sweater knits up quickly in the round.  You'll be very pleased with yourself!  The best part is, once you've completed one Knitting Pure & Simple garment you'll have many more to choose from, as they all knit up in the same easy manner.  Eight hours of class, pattern included. - $40.

Fix Your Mistakes

Learn how to fix your mistakes!  We will show you how to rip back many rows at a time as well as one stitch at a time.  Fixing dropped stitches by reknitting them in both garter and stockinette will be covered.  You will also learn several ways to increase, decrease & how to cast on in the middle of a row.  Price includes the Knitting Answer Book.  - $25...$15 if you already have the book.

Toe-Up Two-at-aTime Socks

This is the class many of you have been waiting for. You will learn the technique of knitting two socks on one needle from the toe up while working with worsted weight yarn and making children socks, following the method used in Melissa Morgan-Oakes book.  Six hours of class - $30.

 (Must purchase book, yarn and a size 5 or 6 / 40 inch Skacel needle.)

Two Sox on Two Circular Needles

Learn how to make two socks at the same time using  two circular needles. These socks are made using the traditional cuff down with a gusset method.  In class we use worsted weight yarn and size 5 or 6 needles.  Class follows the directions used in "Knitting Circles Around Socks" by Antje Gillingham.  The instructins in this book are supported by many pictures and illustrations and includes 8 different patterns.  Sock experience required, as this is a, fast moving class.  (Must have or purchase book, Skacel needles and two skeins of worsted weight yarn.)

Intro to Entreloc

If you would like to get started with the basics of Entrelac, then this is the class for you.  You will start with this simple market scarf made with self-striping yarn while learning the techniques of interlaced rectangles.

Crochet Flower - **One Night Class**

If you know basic crochet but are stuck on how to make this flower then take this class.  This knitted headband, a very popular style and project, that can be made in any weight or type of yarn. However,  the crochet flower has been an issue for many of you.  One two hour class - $12

Crochet Shell Stitch Scarf

If you know the basic crochet stitches then you can take this class and make this shell stitch scarf. Sample shown using one skein of Kudo a self-striping cotton/silk yarn.   Pattern included!   One two class - $15 pattern included.

If you have always wanted to make socks and know basic crochet then this is the class for you!  Must have or purchase the book "More Crocheted Socks" and sock yarn from All About Yarn.  Six hours of class.

Mobius Crochet Wrap ***One Night Class*** 

If you know basic crochet then this class is perfect for you!  You will learn the stitch required for the this wrap and get a good start on it in class.  Two hours of class.- $15 Booklet included.

Slip Stitch Two Color Knitting
Felted Bag 

Learn how do this stitch in a one night class!  Knit the bottom of the bag before class and then come and learn this exciting new method of knitting with two colors at one time.  One, 2 hour class. - $16

Bulky Fair Isle Bag - Felted

If you have been thinking about trying Fair Isle then this is the class for you.  You will make a large felted bag out of Lamb’s Pride that will knit up quickly while learning Fair Isle technique.  Must have bottom of the  bag finished before the start of first class.  4 hours of class - $25.  Pattern included.

Button Ridge Hat

A very popular style hat that is easy to make with a little guidance from us to get you going.  A one, two hour class, pattern included. -$15

Carrie Lynn Bag (Felted) -

In this class you will learn to cable, slip stitch knitting, attached I-cord and much, much more!  This bag is knit with a double strand of bulky weight Lamb's Pride which makes for a very sturdy and strong finished felted project!  Must have bottom of your bag knit before the first class.

Fake Isle Hat

A great fitting Fair Isle hat to make using only two strands of yarn held throughout, one strand of Lamb's Pride worsted and one strand of Noro Kureyon for the color change.  Or you can pick two colors of your choice like Viking or Gopher colors!  Once you make one, you will make a bunch as everyone will want one.

Intarsia Felted Bag
Using the “She-Knits” “Sara Bag” pattern this class will help you take on your first intarsia knitting project.  You will also get instructions onhow to do a back stitch, a duplicate stitch and simple embroidery.

Needle Felting
Needle felting is a great way to give a felted bag, purse, clogs & mittens an entirely new look.  Check out the new kits for this season on display at the shop. This is a fun and exciting class.

Cowl Neck Wrap

This is an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate level class for those of you who are interested in learning several new techniques.  You will start off with the German cast on and then begin on a lace pattern.  You will learn how to put in a life line and also how to do a sewn bind off.  All of this is done using 2 skeins of a bulky weight alpaca for speed as well as softness! 4

You can make this cowl wrap in any pick a project class!

Two at a Time Fingerless Mittens

Come learn how to knit "double point" projects on two circular needles while making fingerless mittens at the same time.  It's nice to have a pair to wear when you are finished! 

Try this method in one of Rox's Pick a Project classes on Tues. or Wed.

 

Twisted Cable Hat

The twisted stitch looks like a cable and makes an outstanding looking hat.  Knit on large circular needles and Rowan Big Wool, this hat knit up quickly once you master the stitch.

Yarn Dyeing

Learn how to dye your own yarn.  Purchase one or more skeins of natural fingering weight yarn at All About Yarn and enjoy the fun of dyeing your own unique color scheme. These yarns make great fingerless mittens, socks, neckwarmers and scarves. Class space is limited! $10
